Proverbs 10:17-21 with poetry

Posted on

An anonymous poetry speaks to me during my devotion time. It is about a wise owl. It points to the book of proverbs 10:17-21. “He who restrains his lips is wise,” verse 11 is the emphasize of the whole verse.

Lord, grants us wisdom when to restrain our lips. Restrain our lips at the right time. May we be a good listener. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Living Values

The Bible is
Full of

Living values
Timeless values

Living human’s fallen nature
Living deceptive values

God’s love through His beloved Son
God’s love to the willful humans

The consequences of wrongdoings
Repentant hearts to listen to God

“Rhythm of Life” came to mind when I think of our lives. Appending L gives more meaning that lives on earth are living. Life is given by God’s breath which we need to treasure and reach to our given potential for the good of mankind. Thanks for reading my poetry and hope this poetry minister and bless you.

Angry Baby

Angry Baby

How many times
Do we act like a spoilt kid to
Demand our ways to our Heavenly Father?

My toddler refused to wash his hands and feet before sleep. He played the door and closed. I lock the door. He was so angry for a few minutes then laughed.

Cutting Words

Cut! Cut! Cut!
Attempting to explain
Cut! Cut! Cut!
Attempting to explain
To seek the truth
By asking my son’s stance
Instead of assuming
Assuming he wriggles like a dog
In front of his grandma’s door

Cut! Cut! Cut!
This irked me to the core
Cutting my words
To justify her actions
Cutting my words
Insisting her own mindset
Insisting her own way
Babbling like a train
Instead of peaceful discussion
Cutting my words
With her ears closed
With her mouth closed
With her eyes closed
Refusing to listen
Refusing to see
The right perspective

How many times
Do our hearts are
Closed to God’s love
Closed to see God
Closed to find rest
In Jesus Christ?

This kind of conversation irritated me for keeping on cutting my explanation instead of listening after she blabbered. She was furious of revenge from her grandson to hit back. She was angry for him to hit his own dad.

When I probed my son and asked caringly, he responded he hit his dad playfully. His dad often played with him acting like a bad guy so he wanted to play that with his dad. Unexpectedly, she hit him for doing so and the revenge occurred. Heated arguments with my son and disciplined him, but he dashed to my mother out of fear.

Change

Change

Change

Do we change from worse to worsen?
Do we change from good to worse?
Do we change from worse to good?
Do we change from good to better?
Do we change from better to best?
Do you want a change?
Listen and believe Jesus Christ as your Saviour.
Listen and obey His commandments out of love and reverence.
Follow Him wholeheartedly.
That is a change of heart.
Our roots are grounded in Him and His Words.

I was observing and contemplating about how I and people change internally and outwardly from infanthood to adulthood even to old age. Out of a sudden, ‘change’ popped out and I feel challenged to define it. Because it really mark the milestones of our lives whether we change for the better or worse. Lord Jesus Christ ever mentioned in Matthew 18:2-4 (NIV) to explain how to receive salvation, “He called a little child to Him, and placed the child among them. And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
