This acrostic idea also came when I was shredding papers. In every human being, there is a self defence mechanism to protect us from harm.

Creator

Carving His image onto the compiled dust of the earth
Relationship with mankind is enjoyable
Etching eternity into the heart of mankind and wish mankind to go
After His heart
To preach to the ends of the earth
Of His good news in Christ to
Redeem us from sins.

The challenge to define the acronym of Creator began with the word, “Carve” and scratching my head afterward. A few days later, every word came out.

“Speed of Reading” idea came upon reading Yoshiko’s poetry ‘Reading Speed’. Somehow, it gives the acronym of SOAR. In the midnight, the word for A came and a new definition of SOAR appeared in my mind. According to Oxford Advanced Learner’s dictionary, soar means
1. If the value, amount or level of something soars, it rises very quickly
2. To rise quickly and smoothly up into the air
3. To fly very high in the air or remain high in the air
4. To be very high or tall
5. When music soars, it becomes higher or louder

The inspiration came when I observe someone who didn’t read the Bible. The picture in my imagination came resulting to the above inspirations. But upon reaching the alphabet E onwards, I was stuck in words. On 24th March, the inspiration flowed out and stopped at J. On 27 March, “justify” seems perfect for J and reach to U. Next day, the words flowed until X and completed the last alphabet.

The reason to named this abecedarian poetry ‘A Dusty Book’ is due to various meaning. I observe some people have a Bible, but they didn’t read. Another reason is some choose not to let the Bible takes effect in their hearts, minds, attitudes, and actions.

It all began from, “无名, 有名” then in the midnight everything just dropped into my mind as the Scriptures spoke to me of Lord Jesus Christ’s sacrifice for the world at John 3:16-17, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved.” and Romans 5:8-11, “But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of His Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.” Now, the Scripture sinks deeper into my heart as I sense His love for me through Lord Jesus Christ as my Saviour.

“Hope In Redeemer” resonated in me. Then my imagination began to wonder the definition for “Heir” since the Bible mentions those who are in Christ are also heirs of God and co-heirs with Jesus who is God’s, which can be found in Romans 8:16-18; Galatians 3:28-29; 4:1-3,6-8; Ephesians 3:5-7; Titus 3:6-8; Hebrews 1:1-3; 6:16-18; 1 Peter 3:6-8.

The definition of H, and E came in the morning ever since I think of it a few days ago. Heart is the key to our motives, actions and conditions of our lives as I understand from the book of Proverbs and Jeremiah. Furthermore, how Jesus Christ can save our hearts when we let Him to be our Lord in our hearts. At night, suddenly the words for R then A and T flowed out. My heart is filled with more amazement towards to my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

How Long

Posted on

As my feet land onto the floor
Either walking step by step or even
Rise from bed, chair, sofa…
The nerves of sprained rear ankle feet
Send signals of throbbing onto my brain.

Struggled to keep a calm demeanour, but
In my heart, I cried in agony
How long more will the pain last?
How long more will I reach home?
How long more will the bus reach?
How long more?

Inspiration On: Saturday, 16 June 2012 at 10:30pm
Revised On: Wednesday, 20 June 2012 at 12:25pm

A few days ago, my rear left ankle is aching. But I sprained my rear right ankle when I was bringing my toddler’s trolley to alight the bus. Then I met my husband after his office hour. Oh, the pain I’m trying to conceal from my husband not wanting to make my toddler’s outing to nothing. Bearing the pain while standing to wait for the coming bus, I thank God to get a seat with my helper carrying my toddler. The long journey really exhausted me especially my aching ankles longing for my bed.

As I search from the Bible the phrase “How Long” mentions:

1.

Longing for God’s protectionJob 19:1-3 (NIV)Then Job replied: “How longwill you torment me and crush me with words? Ten times now you have reproached me; shamelessly you attack me.

Job 29:1-3(NIV)

Job continued his discourse: “How I long for the months gone by, for the days when God watched over me, when his lamp shone on my head and by his light I walked through darkness!

Revelation 6:10 (NIV)

They called out in a loud voice, “How long, Sovereign Lord, holy and true, until you judge the inhabitants of the earth and avenge our blood?”

2.

God’s longing for us to stop being stubborn and end ourselves in ruin pathsPsalm 4:1-3 (NIV)Answer me when I call to you, my righteous God. Give me relief from my distress; have mercy on me and hear my prayer. How long will you people turn my glory into shame? How longwill you love delusions and seek false gods? Know that the Lord has set apart his faithful servant for himself; the Lord hears when I call to him.

Proverbs 1:21-23 (NIV)

On top of the wall she cries out, at the city gate she makes her speech: “How long will you who are simple love your simple ways? How long will mockers delight in mockery and fools hate knowledge? Repent at my rebuke! Then I will pour out my thoughts to you, I will make known to you my teachings.

Proverbs 6:9-10 (NIV)

How long will you lie there, you sluggard? When will you get up from your sleep? A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest.

Jeremiah 4:13-15 (NIV)

Look! He advances like the clouds, his chariots come like a whirlwind, his horses are swifter than eagles. Woe to us! We are ruined! Jerusalem, wash the evil from your heart and be saved. How long will you harbor wicked thoughts? A voice is announcing from Dan, proclaiming disaster from the hills of Ephraim.

Jeremiah 4:20-22 (NIV)

Disaster follows disaster; the whole land lies in ruins. In an instant my tents are destroyed, my shelter in a moment. How long must I see the battle standard and hear the sound of the trumpet? “My people are fools; they do not know Me. They are senseless children; they have no understanding. They are skilled in doing evil; they know not how to do good.”

Jeremiah 12:3-5 (NIV)

Yet you know me, Lord; you see me and test my thoughts about you. Drag them off like sheep to be butchered! Set them apart for the day of slaughter! How long will the land lie parched and the grass in every field be withered? Because those who live in it are wicked, the animals and birds have perished. Moreover, the people are saying, “He will not see what happens to us.”

Jeremiah 13:26-27 (NIV)

I will pull up your skirts over your face that your shame may be seen — your adulteries and lustful neighings, your shameless prostitution! I have seen your detestable acts on the hills and in the fields. Woe to you, Jerusalem! How long will you be unclean?”

Jeremiah 23:25-27 (NIV)

“I have heard what the prophets say who prophesy lies in my name. They say, ‘I had a dream! I had a dream!’ How long will this continue in the hearts of these lying prophets, who prophesy the delusions of their own minds? They think the dreams they tell one another will make my people forget my name, just as their ancestors forgot my name through Baal worship.

Jeremiah 31:21-23 (NIV)

“Set up road signs; put up guideposts. Take note of the highway, the road that you take. Return, Virgin Israel, return to your towns. How long will you wander, unfaithful Daughter Israel? The Lord will create a new thing on earth— the woman will return to[a] the man.” This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: “When I bring them back from captivity, the people in the land of Judah and in its towns will once again use these words: ‘The Lord bless you, you prosperous city, you sacred mountain.’

3.

Seeking God’s refuge and redemptionPsalm 6:2-4 (NIV)Have mercy on me, Lord, for I am faint; heal me, Lord, for my bones are in agony. My soul is in deep anguish. How long, Lord, how long? Turn, Lord, and deliver me; save me because of your unfailing love.

Psalm 13:1-3 (NIV)

How long, Lord? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me? How long must I wrestle with my thoughts and day after day have sorrow in my heart? How long will my enemy triumph over me? Look on me and answer, Lord my God. Give light to my eyes, or I will sleep in death.

Psalm 35:16-18 (NIV)

Like the ungodly they maliciously mocked; they gnashed their teeth at me. How long, Lord, will you look on? Rescue me from their ravages, my precious life from these lions. I will give you thanks in the great assembly; among the throngs I will praise you.

Psalm 62:2-4 (NIV)

Truly He is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress, I will never be shaken. How long will you assault me? Would all of you throw me down— this leaning wall, this tottering fence? Surely they intend to topple me from my lofty place; they take delight in lies. With their mouths they bless, but in their hearts they curse.

Psalm 119:83-85 (NIV)

Though I am like a wineskin in the smoke, I do not forget your decrees. How long must your servant wait? When will you punish my persecutors? The arrogant dig pits to trap me, contrary to your law.

Daniel 8:12-14 (NIV)

Because of rebellion, the Lord’s people[a] and the daily sacrifice were given over to it. It prospered in everything it did, and truth was thrown to the ground. Then I heard a holy one speaking, and another holy one said to him, “How long will it take for the vision to be fulfilled —the vision concerning the daily sacrifice, the rebellion that causes desolation, the surrender of the sanctuary and the trampling underfoot of the Lord’s people?” He said to me, “It will take 2,300 evenings and mornings; then the sanctuary will be reconsecrated.”

Daniel 12:5-7 (NIV)

Then I, Daniel, looked, and there before me stood two others, one on this bank of the river and one on the opposite bank. One of them said to the man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, “How long will it be before these astonishing things are fulfilled?” The man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, lifted his right hand and his left hand toward heaven, and I heard him swear by him who lives forever, saying, “It will be for a time, times and half a time. When the power of the holy people has been finally broken, all these things will be completed. ”

Hosea 8:4-6 (NIV)

They set up kings without My consent; they choose princes without My approval. With their silver and gold they make idols for themselves to their own destruction. Samaria, throw out your calf-idol! My anger burns against them. How long will they be incapable of purity? They are fromIsrael! This calf—a metalworker has made it; it is not God. It will be broken in pieces, that calf ofSamaria.

Habakkuk 1:1-3 (NIV)

The prophecy that Habakkuk the prophet received. How long, Lord, must I call for help, but You do not listen? Or cry out to You, “Violence!” but You do not save? Why do You make me look at injustice? Why do You tolerate wrongdoing? Destruction and violence are before me; there is strife, and conflict abounds.

Habakkuk 2:5-7 (NIV)

Indeed, wine betrays him; he is arrogant and never at rest. Because he is as greedy as the grave and like death is never satisfied, he gathers to himself all the nations and takes captive all the peoples. “Will not all of them taunt him with ridicule and scorn, saying, “‘Woe to him who piles up stolen goods and makes himself wealthy by extortion! How long must this go on?’ Will not your creditors suddenly arise? Will they not wake up and make you tremble? Then you will become their prey.

Zechariah 1:11-13 (NIV)

And they reported to the angel of the Lord who was standing among the myrtle trees, “We have gone throughout the earth and found the whole world at rest and in peace.” Then the angel of the Lord said, “Lord Almighty, how long will You withhold mercy fromJerusalem and from the towns ofJudah, which You have been angry with these seventy years?” So the Lord spoke kind and comforting words to the angel who talked with me.

Matthew 17:16-18 (NIV)

I brought him to your disciples, but they could not heal him.” “You unbelieving and perverse generation,” Jesus replied, “how long shall I stay with you? How long shall I put up with you? Bring the boy here to me.” Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of the boy, and he was healed at that moment.

Luke 13:33-35 (NIV)

In any case, I must press on today and tomorrow and the next day—for surely no prophet can die outside Jerusalem! Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were not willing. Look, your house is left to you desolate. I tell you, you will not see me again until you say, ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.’”

4.

Longing for God’s guidance and His WordPsalm 119:39-41 (NIV)Take away the disgrace I dread, for your laws are good. How I long for Your precepts! In Your righteousness preserve my life. May Your unfailing love come to me, Lord, Your salvation, according to Your promise
