Encounter gossips and rumours
Choose to
Decide to
HALT

The spreading of the
Infectious words
Scandalous stories

Refuse own participation
Take courage
Being brave enough to

Speak and declare
Don’t want to hear
Don’t care to repeat
What is being said

Such actions help to
Stop a rumour
Stop gossip

Before it spreads
Infecting others
Cause more pain

Being a quiet person, there are times I repeat on what is being said. Parrot. I served in the administrative role in my previous job. A family business where family matters and business matters were mixed. I believe in getting along with everybody. When they have issues with each other, they pour out to me. I feel so grateful to be trusted and believed. However, I can feel drained. Because all the word attached to me and can effect my perception towards the spoken party. Thus I lose my temper towards one of the spoken party. I feel convicted inside. Thus I met that spoken party to reconcile. That spoken party is forgiving and we agreed to work well for the company. Thank God for the great relationship. Sometimes, when I go somewhere and passed by the office, I just go to the office to say hi to everyone. The moral value of the story is: be careful of the spoken words from the other party. Check but don’t let it attach onto you. Karen Ehman (the author of ‘Keep it Shut’) commends a quiet girl who can speak up for herself and others. I need to learn from that quiet girl when and how to answer. A few months ago, a friend repeats some rumour about an actress. I’m surprised with my answer. It may not be the case. Most likely those people are jealous of her being famous. Once I watch her performance, instantly I can sense she is a great mimicker. Wish you all have good days and thank you.

Book “The Poetry of Yorifumi Yaguchi”

Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.” Jesus Did Not Come Down in the section Words Made Flesh speaks how Jesus endured the mockings when he was crucified (Matthew 27:32-44, Mark 15:21-32, Luke 23:26-36). In the section of War and Peace, the poetry titled “A Military Nurse” mentions about the terrible psychological impact upon a Japanese military nurse after the world war II.

As I read about his biography, the war didn’t diminish his poetic ability. How marvellous in the way he writes his poems and his choice of words. Even though he went through difficult times, his poetic talents describes all the terrible things he observed.

Japanese Movie “Nada Sô Sô” (2006)

Yotaro lived sacrificially for his sister’s sake in order to keep his promise to his beloved mum before her deathbed, but he also work hard to earn income to fulfil his dream to open a restaurant.

On the day to open his dream restaurant, suddenly the real land owner appeared. Then he realized that Mr. Kameoka was a swindler. This ended him with a big debt to settle. His dream was dashed.

This shows he is a gentleman, responsible, honours his words, respectful, honest, and a hardworking man.

For the sake of paying his debts, he worked hard day and night until he lost his health. Despite his fever, for the sake of protecting his sister during typhoon, he ignored it and went to her rescue and lose his life at the age of 25.

This is indeed a love in action.

Suddenly, James Chapter 2 verse 17 to 20 came to my mind, “Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?”

The first book of Corinthians Chapter 13 verse 4 to 7 speaks about love, “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”

My mind starts to wonder,
Is this what a disciple of Christ supposed to do?

James 2:17-20 “Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

So the moral of the story is love in action.
