Cutting Words

Posted on

Cut! Cut! Cut!
Attempting to explain
Cut! Cut! Cut!
Attempting to explain
To seek the truth
By asking my son’s stance
Instead of assuming
Assuming he wriggles like a dog
In front of his grandma’s door

Cut! Cut! Cut!
This irked me to the core
Cutting my words
To justify her actions
Cutting my words
Insisting her own mindset
Insisting her own way
Babbling like a train
Instead of peaceful discussion
Cutting my words
With her ears closed
With her mouth closed
With her eyes closed
Refusing to listen
Refusing to see
The right perspective

How many times
Do our hearts are
Closed to God’s love
Closed to see God
Closed to find rest
In Jesus Christ?

This kind of conversation irritated me for keeping on cutting my explanation instead of listening after she blabbered. She was furious of revenge from her grandson to hit back. She was angry for him to hit his own dad.

When I probed my son and asked caringly, he responded he hit his dad playfully. His dad often played with him acting like a bad guy so he wanted to play that with his dad. Unexpectedly, she hit him for doing so and the revenge occurred. Heated arguments with my son and disciplined him, but he dashed to my mother out of fear.

Power of Assumptions

Posted on

There is a tendency to measure someone else with our own thinking. But people’s mindset may not be according to our assumptions. It is essential for us to search out the truth. Our assumptions are like a water filter, to separate water from the noodle. Assumptions filter out people’s words. We only remember a few words and concluded based on own assumptions.

For example:
A spoke gently to his son, “Be careful! Don’t jump when you climb the tree because you will fall.” Then A noticed a cockroach was walking towards his neighbour and A shouted, “Ah! A cockroach rushes to you. Stomp on it! Kill it!” B was daydreaming and woken by A’s shout. So B looked outside the window. A’s neighbour is out of sight and B only heard A’s words. So B concluded A jumped the tree and fell, but cockroach kills him. Isn’t this story is a good example.

According to Oxford Advance Learner’s dictionary, yahoo means a rude, noisy or violent person. Yet is used in negative sentences and questions to talk about something that has not happened but that you expect to happen. Zap is to destroy, kill or hit somebody / something suddenly and with force. Zonked means extremely tired or suffering from the effects of alcohol or drugs. In conclusion, yet mindset is a much stronger word and the best word.

It all started with the words, “Diabolical Evil Venomous” to give this alphabetical inspiration poetry. It was a challenge to identify the sins in an alphabetical order. A few words flowed out daily. Including “Xenophobia” means a strong feeling of dislike or fear of people from other countries.

E=MC2

Another way to look at Albert Einstein’s E= MC2 is another definition of

Emotions = Mind & Character2

As our thinking and characters vary, our emotions will vary as well.

There is a character in each and every one of us. Each character is distinct. Our mindset is based on our character when in a particular situation will greatly affect our emotions. We need to guard our mind as instructed by Apostle Paul in Philippians 4:7-9.
